A small, anchovy-like fish that schools in huge numbers in the deep water and wrecks of the Bay of Hadad. It is used in many local dishes, either pickled and canned in oil, blended into a paste, or salted and dried for other uses. It has a naturally smoky, briny flavor that is regarded by and large as simple and appealing, unlike the many of the other offerings from the waters of the bay.
Hatcherill makes up many of the staples of many meals in Lion’s Leap due to its availability.
